According to several media outlets, the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams recently proved himself to be somewhat of a Good Samaritan when he came to the aid of two teenagers who had been injured in a car crash.
The car accident occurred in Brentwood, in new St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher's home state of Tennessee. Fisher was reportedly on his way home from a meeting when he came upon the scene of a single-vehicle accident. Fisher was the first to arrive on the scene, police say.
There were two teenagers in the car when it reportedly crashed into a telephone pole: the 17-year-old driver and a 13-year-old, who was thrown from the vehicle upon collision. The younger victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was said to be in "critical but stable" condition. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but they do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved.
Fisher told local news outlets that he stopped, "rendered aid as best he could," and stayed with the teenagers until the emergency responders arrived on the scene. According to the Brentwood police sergeant, Fisher's assistance was very helpful. "Anything to calm them down and advise us while we are on the way helps everyone," he said.
Until the cause of the accident and other details are determined, it will not be known whether the accident will lead to a personal injury lawsuit. If dangerous road conditions caused the crash, the victims may have a claim against the state or city department of transportation.
